Hot Weather Update
Update to parents regarding the hot weather.
Woodbrook has many areas that are air conditioned. In many cases school is cooler than our own homes. However, the following measures have been put in place:
Students are being advised to use the air-conditioned areas like the canteen or library at break and lunch if they are hot. Both these areas were empty yesterday. We will be closing the field early at lunch to limit sun exposure and allow students time to come inside to cool down and fill up their water bottles. Shade and indoor air-conditioned spaces are the best!
PE lessons are being brought inside for the later parts of the day when the heat is highest.
We have 15 air-conditioned classrooms and many large spaces that are also air conditioned. Most classes have outside doors allowing us to provide ventilation and multiple fans are running all around school. We have made provision for lessons to be moved to air-conditioned spaces as needed.
Students should remember to bring a big reusable water container so they can fill up. We will make fill ups available throughout the break and lunchtimes and tutors will keep reminding students.
Finally, we have asked tutors to tell students to report quickly if they feel unwell.
Obviously, we will monitor the ongoing situation.
