Personal Development
The Personal Development faculty at Woodbrook Vale offers students with weekly lessons throughout Key Stage 3. In Key Stage 4, students will receive workshops on significant topics from external providers before resuming weekly lessons throughout the first half of Year 11.
Personal Development at Woodbrook Vale makes a significant contribution to pupils’ moral, civic, intellectual and cultural development, ensuring they are well prepared for life in modern Britain. Our curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge and skills to make safe, healthy and informed choices, whilst developing resilience, empathy and self-awareness. Through the alignment of Religion and Citizenship within Personal Development lessons in Year 8 and Year 9, pupils engage with ethical, moral and cultural perspectives alongside an understanding of democracy, equality and individual liberty. This integrated approach builds cultural capital, strengthens pupils’ respect for diversity, and encourages active participation in their communities. As a result, pupils leave us as confident, reflective and responsible individuals, prepared not only for academic success but also for positive contribution to society.
