Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. Ofsted reports directly to Parliament and is independent and impartial. They inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.
Following the ‘Good’ inspection from July 2015, the school had a short inspection in February 2019. From the evidence Ofsted gathered during the short inspection, “the school has demonstrated strong practice and marked improvement in specific areas. This may indicate that the school has improved significantly overall.”
The recommendation was that the school be re-inspected within the next 24 months with a full 2-day (section 5) inspection as we may have moved closer to the ‘Outstanding’ category.
Some of the key findings from the Ofsted report highlighting our schools success include:
- The school is calm and orderly, with pupils demonstrating exemplary behaviour towards each other, staff and visitors as a result of the effective strategies the school uses to promote respect and self-discipline.
- Pupils are positive about the school and feel supported, both academically and pastorally.
- Parents and carers are also overwhelmingly positive about the school.
- Governors have also provided strong support to leaders in improving teaching across the school, developing the curriculum and strengthening impartial careers guidance.
